Dr. M. S. Murthy (born 1960 in Bengaluru) is an Indian artist, muralist, sculptor, author and Kannada playwright. He holds a Diploma in Fine Arts and Modelling from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath and a doctorate from Kannada University, Hampi. He served as Chairman of the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy from 2015 to 2017 and has held more than 25 solo exhibitions. His honours include the International Biennial Award from the Iran Academy of Arts, the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award for Desi Nagu, the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and the Varnashilpi Venkatappa lifetime achievement award. His play Yashodhare Malagiralilla, based on Buddhist philosophy, was recognised as the Best Regional Play by All India Radio, Bengaluru.
