      The trust created on her initiative

      She is the founder Trustee of S FOUNDATION an organization which pioneered the program “Marathal Thagumo”, A tribute to honour the glory and supreme sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces. She Conducts an annual event for students at college and school level and they are given the privilege of showcasing their talents before Officer of the Indian Armed Forces and awarded memorable prizes.

      ‘காலதானம்' என்பது தொகுப்பின் தலைப்புக் கதை. தானங்களில் பல வகை. தானம் என்ற சொல்லே மிகச் செறிவானது. அதை விரித்துப் பேச இங்கு வாய்ப்பில்லை. இதுவரை கேள்விப்பட்டிராத தானமாக இருக்கிறது ‘கால தானம்'. அதன் பொருள் விளங்க முதுமை வந்து எய்த வேண்டியதும் இருக்கிறது. கால விரயம் என்பதோர் பழிச்சொல். கால தானம் என்பது மேன்மையான சொல்.
      நம்மை ஒருவர் அவரது சொற்பக் காரணங்களுக்காக, அனுகூலங்களுக்காகக் காண வருகிறார் என்றார், அந்தச் சந்திப்பால் குறிப்பாக எந்தப் பயனும் நமக்கு இல்லையெனில், அவருக்காக நாம் ஒதுக்கும் நேரம் என்பது கால தானம் தானே! அதிலும் வேறோர் பிரதிகூலம் உண்டு நமக்கு. ஒருவர் காலை பத்து மணிக்கு நம்மைக் காண வருவதாகக் கூறுவார், செய்தியும் அனுப்புவார். நாமும் குளித்து, உடை மாற்றி, ஆயத்தமாக அமர்ந்திருப்போம். அவர் பன்னிரண்டரை மணிக்கு வந்து சேருவார். எந்தத் தயக்கமும், வருத்தமும், கூச்சமும், குற்ற உணர்வும் இன்றி. இதை நாம் கால தானம் என்பதா, மெத்தனம் என்பதா, சுரண்டல் என்பதா?
      இந்தச் சிறுகதைத் தொகுப்புக்காக, வழக்கறிஞர் சுமதிக்கு வாழ்த்துச் சொல்லும் இந்தச் சந்தர்ப்பத்தில், ‘கல்மண்டபம்' போன்று மொழித் தீவிரத்துடனும், கலைநுட்பத்துடனும், பாடுபொருள் கனத்துடனும் நாவல் எழுத முயல வேண்டும் என்ற எதிர்பார்ப்பையும் தெரியப்படுத்துகிறேன்.
